WeChat launches new feature to fight fake news

WeChat is most well known Chinese instant messaging app. Tencent developed this application which was launched as a social media in 2011. Recently the application introduced a new feature which alerts users if they circulating a false news on their accounts.Through this special app will notify users who will be broadcasting the fake news they will automatically be caught by Chinese censors board, officials of media and police.This news is reported by Efe news.
This year WeChat also launched “mini programmes” like along with this app Chinese cybernaut use for messaging, ordering food, rent for a bicycle, mobile payments. This app also provides users social game, and rank the users that how many rumor explode article they have read. The active cyber users will notify if any news article sent to their friends is found false later. So, the function of the WeChat can be called as an “app within app” service. According to report the users of WeChat is now more than 900 million.
It is reported that the company has closed the number of popular social media accounts. The famous fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar also shut down this week. Also reported from Bejing news, that the digitally famous content creator's account like south china morning post, Cyberspace Administration closed down this week. The content account was famous for news and celebrity gossips. The two accounts are not about political controversies content. Administration of cyber security also shut down the photographer’s account Zhuo Wei’s weibo, who is a famous Chinese photographer. It is reported from his cyber account that till now he had 7.11 million followers.
The cyberspace administration declared that the censorship was willful to “proactively promote socialist core values”. China has recently launched a new cyberspace law that is effective from June 1. For this reason, China is promoted the new agency to grab the fake news.
